Travel, Aspiration, and the Staged Self

These drawings explore travel as a space where identity can loosen from its ordinary constraints. Architecture, fashion, leisure, and classical sculpture become part of an imagined self — cultivated, desirable, and open to possibilities that may remain suppressed at home. Travel offers the fantasy of becoming someone else.

Classical male bodies appear as both monuments of civilization and objects of physical longing — cultured ideals charged with something more primal. The women who move through these spaces seem poised between restraint and appetite, between the identities they bring with them and the selves that unfamiliar places allow them to imagine.
