Identity, Regret, and the Fractured Self

These paintings explore identity in the aftermath of disappointment. The figures appear composed and self-possessed, yet their titles reveal a more private world of doubt and regret — the moment when confidence gives way to the realization that something has gone wrong again.

Across repeated poses and shifting colors, the same figure seems to become several possible selves: the person who trusted, the person who suspected, the person who hoped this time would be different, and the person left to make sense of what happened. Identity becomes less a stable image than an ongoing negotiation between who we believe ourselves to be and what experience forces us to reconsider.

The works ask what happens to identity when the story we tell about ourselves no longer matches what has happened to us.
